In August 2002, UDT entered its first collaborative partnering agreement in a deal with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) is a federally funded research and development facility managed by the California Institute of Technology for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). JPL has an unparalleled reputation in technology development for both NASA and non-NASA projects including those for, among others, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Forest Service, the National Archives, and the U.S. Department of Defense.

Consistent with UDT's collaborative partnering strategy, this agreement enables the Company to leverage the best-of-breed expertise of JPL researchers, and thus, significantly accelerate the development and deployment of UDT's initial biological weapon detection device in a highly cost-effective manner.

Under the terms of the agreement, JPL has developed its proprietary bacterial spore detection technology for integration into UDT's developing bio-terrorism detection device. We continue to work closely with scientists at JPL and constantly discuss and evaluate the possibility of adding new technologies to our counter-terrorism solutions.
